Matt Deters - Meet The Elites

Matt Deters

Matt’s life long interest in running began in 8th grade, when his buddy forged his signature on the track team sigh-up sheet. In high school he began to learn from a local coach and ended up doing well, winning the league and district meets in the 1600m run his junior year. After walking on to the track team in college, he made the decision to quit so that he could concentrate on work and eventually stopped running until 2010.

Bethany Sachtleben - Meet The Elites

I started running for fun in the spring of 2011 and walked-on to George Mason University's XC/Track team that same fall. Under the coaching of GMU head coach Andy Gerard, I went from not knowing how many meters an outdoor track was, to winning 4 Atlantic-10 championships and qualifying for the outdoor NCAA preliminary round all 3 years. My college career was an amazing experience and made me want to keep running post-collegiately.

Tyler Andrews - Meet The Elites

Like many other athletes, I began running in high school; unlike most of my current competitors, I didn't find immediate success as a teenager. My progression has been slow and gradual from an unremarkable high school career to a mediocore college career to finally moving up in distance to the half- and full-marathon after graduating and finding some success.

Scott Carpenter - Meet The Elites

Scott Carpenter

Scott is from Lenox, Massachusetts and began running competitively for his middle/high school cross country team in 7th grade.   He is now in his eleventh year of running and has been fortunate to improve incrementally every year.  That slow progression is what got him hooked in the sport and how he got where he is today.

2000 registrations, on the way to a registration record.

The 2015 Alexandria Turkey Trot is two and a half weeks away, and it looks like we are on pace to break all registration records.

As of this morning the turkey trot had over 2000 registations, which is well ahead of our registration pace in past years.

What does this mean to you? if you are already registered, it just means that you will be able to run with 6000 of your closes friends. If you are not registerd, it means that you should probably do so soon if you want to ensure that you will get a spot.
