Meet elite athlete Tyler Andrews

Andrews will be running the race as a last tune-up before he competes for the US National Team at the 50km World Championships in Doha, Qatar on December 4. Why the five-mile distance? "I think 5 miles is a great distance to race the week before the 50K," he explains. "It's just enough to get excited about and really race hard, but it's not so long that it'll leave me feeling tired a week later. It's a great balance and it'll give me something to look forward to during my taper."
After the Alexandria Turkey Trot and the 50K World Championships, Andrews will turn his focus to the marathon. "The big goal with this season is the US Olympic Marathon Trials in February, 2016," Andrews says. "Getting there fit and healthy - that's priority number one. I've been feeling great so far; I'm excited." Coming off a year where he has registered personal bests from 5K to 50K, he has reason to be optimistic.
