Susanna Sullivan
Susanna was a standout performer at George Mason High School (now Meridian High, in Falls Church, VA) garnering All-Region, All-District and All-State honors in both cross country and track and winning Virginia State Championships in the 1600m and 3200m.
After running collegiately at the University of Notre Dame, Susanna’s post-collegiate running career as a member of Capital Area Runners was marked by steady improvement and a rise to national prominence. She ran 2:35:37 at Grandma’s Marathon in her debut at that distance, and finished 20th in her first U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon in 2016. More recently, Susanna has set PRs at a range of distances in 2022: mile (4:34) 5k (15:29 track, 15:38 road), 10k (31:56), 10 miles (52:32) and marathon (2:25:14). Her 6th place finish at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October makes her the 15th fastest all-time American female marathoner. She quickly followed that with a strong showing at the USATF 5k Road Championship in New York City less than four weeks after her run at Chicago.
She holds the course record at the Alexandria Turkey Trot! When Susanna isn’t running, she works as a 6th grade math and science teacher in Falls Church, VA.
