No. Though some runners leave items on the gym bleachers during the race, but it is NOT secured and neither GW Middle School nor the race organizers will be responsible for loss or damage.

Yes, but strollers must start in the designated area behind the main field or in the designated stroller start area on the side of the school.

No, we try to keep the cost of this event as low as possible and have surveyed the runners numerous times in the past about medals. The overwhelming majority of people would prefer to keep the cost down and not have medals.

Yes, at the discretion of our volunteers. You may not pick up a minor’s bib number unless you are that minor’s parent or legal guardian, or have a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Yes, but only on race day from 07:30-08:30. Race time is 9am sharp. Please do not try to register in person at packet pickup on Wednesday evening, there will be no available bibs or financial transaction tools.

Yes, but be advised that the Alexandria Police control traffic based on a 15-minute-per-mile walking pace. The race will begin sharply at 9am and the course will close sharply at 10:15.
Since this is a 5-mile course, if you are still on the course at 10:15, you’ll need to move out of the roadway and onto the sidewalk for safety.
Please note that if you are still on the course at the 10:15 deadline, you will not have technically “finished” the course from a race perspective and will not have a time listed in the final results.

No. Although they have been allowed in the past, the City has asked us not to allow moving forward for safey reasons.

Yes, but dogs must start in the designated area behind the main field. Also, you must use a short leash, not one of those 20-foot expand-o-matic leashes that trip other runners. (We’ve had some complaints.)

Yes click here for an interactive version and printable copies. We’ll also have copies posted at registration and early packet pickup.

Yes. If you register online, you can pick up your bib number and t-shirt at the GW Middle School the evening before the race (Wednesday, November 27) between 6:00PM and 8:00PM. If you arrive earlier than 6:00PM, please be prepared to wait.

We need about 150 volunteers to make this event a success. We need help with setup, runner registration, t-shirt sales, crowd control, water stop, finish line management, and cleanup. If you can work from 08:00 to 11:45, or even half of that (08:00-10:00 or 10:00-11:45), we need you. (We also need a small number of assistants for packet pickup on Wednesday evening.) Volunteers receive our eternal gratitude and a complimentary Turkey Trot t-shirt. If you would like to volunteer please register at www.alexandriaturkeytrot.com/volunteer or email volunteer@alexandriaturkeytrot.com.

Our policy is never to have bad weather. If we do, we ignore it. The race starts at 9 am on Thanksgiving Day.
In case of extreme inclement weather (hurricane, 1 foot of snow on the course), the race could be cancelled. A decision to cancel the race will be made on race morning and posted on the site. Because this is a thanksgiving race, there is no makeup date.

Results are posted on this website in real time during the race, please http://www.alexandriaturkeytrot.com/results

Please bring your two nonperishable food items to the GW Middle School Gym on race day. We cannot accept them at early packet pickup the night before.

9 am sharp. If you haven’t registered online in advance, please don’t show up at 8:45 and expect to register in time for a 9:00 start. Please give yourself plenty of time to register and prepare for the race.
